The victory of success is half won when one gains the habit of setting goals and achieving them. Even the most tedious chore will become endurable as you parade through each day convinced that every task, no matter how menial or boring, brings you closer to fulfilling your dreams.

We desire to succeed.  It is hard-wired within us to achieve greatness.  However, succeeding requires more than simply determing in your mind to be successful.  It starts with setting goals, personally, financially, and professionally, to have a direction in your pursuit of achievement.  When you are working towards a goal, the daily tasks become the road to achievement instead of filler.  But if you have no goal, daily tasks and chores are taken at face-value: mundane and boring.  But what do you do when your journey to greatness is consumed by crunching numbers, filing papers, doing dishes, and mounds of laundry?  If you adopt a long-term perspective, those tasks are taking you where you want to go.

The most important thing is to not lose sight of the goal, because that is when you forget who you are, where you are going, and who you want to be.  What is the dream inside of your heart today?  Take a moment to ponder what it would look like if you accomplished that dream.  As you roll it over in your mind, what are you doing today that will take you where you want to go?  If you are not moving in any direction, be careful, because the dream can easily become stagnate and forgotten in the daily routine of life.

Set at least one goal today and do something today that will make progress in achieving it.  How do you eat an elephant?…One bite at a time!
