Scripture:

“When Jesus wraps this all up, it’s your faith, not your gold, that God will have on display as evidence of his victory.  You never saw him, yet you love him. You still don’t see him, yet you trust him—with laughter and singing. Because you kept on believing, you’ll get what you’re looking forward to: total salvation.” 1 Peter 1:7-9

Perspective:
When was the last time you had a good laugh?  Maybe it was when you were hanging out with friends or you witnessed a family member being silly.  When you laugh hard, your whole side hurts. But, the smile that is pasted on your face leaves little marks at the corners of your mouth to remind you of that moment.

The hope of salvation through Jesus Christ should bring a smile to our face and joy deep within.  Our momentary trials no longer claim our full attention.  As we trust God, we don’t just believe with an attitude that says, “I will finally be happy when I get to heaven.” Joy is not based on our circumstances or situations.  Our lives should radiate joy, laughter, singing, and rejoicing because of the eternal hope in Jesus.  Could someone see that you have a relationship with Jesus based on your joy?  Take a moment today to set your eyes on Jesus, and allow joy and thanksgiving to consume your heart.  It’s okay to get excited about Jesus; the smile on your face might even point someone to Him.
