Scripture:

“Do you see what this means—all these pioneers who blazed the way, all these veterans cheering us on? It means we’d better get on with it. Strip down, start running—and never quit! No extra spiritual fat, no parasitic sins.  Keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race we’re in.” Hebrews 12:1-2

Perspective:

When settlers came across America for the first time, they were pioneering the way for other people to follow.  They carved out trails that no one had created before.  They built buildings that were foreign to the hills, valleys, and mountain landscape.  They were the first to settle and explore the new America.

In the same way, there have been men and women of great faith that have gone before us.  They were trailblazers who took the Gospel message of Jesus Christ to families, students, friends, and even the ends of the earth.  They persevered when it got tough; they believed God even when they couldn’t see the answer yet.  Think about the people who pioneered the way so you could hear the message of Jesus.  Is God asking you to be a pioneer for someone else?  Maybe you are the only one in your family who knows the Lord.  You are being a trailblazer for the rest of your family to have the opportunity to respond to the love of Jesus.  Maybe God is asking you to be the first person to bring Jesus to your workplace where everyone brags about their weekend of parties on Monday.  Or, God might be putting people on your heart from a different country who have never heard about Jesus.  Whatever God is calling you to do, remember all the people who have gone before you living lives full of faith, and keep trailblazing to give more people the opportunity to know God.
