Scripture:

“When Moses came down from Mount Sinai carrying the two Tablets of The Testimony, he didn’t know that the skin of his face glowed because he had been speaking with God. Aaron and all the Israelites saw Moses, saw his radiant face, and held back, afraid to get close to him.  Moses called out to them. Aaron and the leaders in the community came back and Moses talked with them. Later all the Israelites came up to him and he passed on the commands, everything that God had told him on Mount Sinai.  When Moses finished speaking with them, he put a veil over his face, but when he went into the presence of God to speak with him, he removed the veil until he came out.” Exodus 34:29-33 (MSG)

Perspective:

If you are around someone with strong cologne or perfume, it is likely to get on you.  If it is a strong scent, the overwhelming aroma will be on you, even after the person has left.  It sticks to your clothes, your hair, and lingers in the air.  Long after the person has left, you will remember them by their aroma.

When Moses went to meet with God, the presence of God impacted him long after his encounter.  His face was radiant with God’s glory.  Basically, the aroma of his life had changed.  It emitted the presence of God in a whole new dimension.  There was such a distinct contrast that the Israelites were afraid of him.  Moses had to wear a veil, because his radiant face was too bright!  Can you imagine the presence of God impacting your life to that extent? What is the aroma of your life?  Does it indicate that you have spent time with Jesus? Or, is it a toxic stench?  When we spend time with Jesus, it changes the aroma of our lives.  When people interact with us, they leave different, not because we are preaching them a sermon.  It is because we have been changed by Jesus on the inside, and it will always impact the people with whom we interact. There is no magic formula to have a radiance on your life, except by spending time with Jesus. So instead of leaving people with a toxic stench, let the aroma of your life preach a thousand sermons without even using words.
