“The book to read is not the one which thinks for you,

but the one which makes you think.”
-Harper Lee

One of the things that I prioritize every year is reading books. For some, reading is laborious, but for me, reading is a retreat. It allows me to think new thoughts and dream new dreams. I usually crave quiet moments, where I can simply read a book. There is something rejuvenating about learning and growing. During 2013, I read some great books. If you are looking to find a few books for 2014, I encourage you to use this list as a starter.  Here are some of the books I read in 2013:

Be a People Person by John Maxwell

How to Say No and Live to Tell About It by Mary M. Byers

Outliers by Malcom Gladwell

Bittersweet by Shauna Niequest

Patient Heal Thyself by Jordan Rubin

Run with the Horses by Eugene Peterson

One of my favorite books I read this year was Run with the Horses by Eugene Peterson. It explores the life of the prophet, Jeremiah, from the Bible in a different light. It was a very interesting book!

Even though I love to read, my love to read is mirrored in my love to write. I’m still amazed at the stories that I hear from readers of my book, Smart Work U, and how it has helped them navigate their college experience. I’m already starting my reading list for 2014. Also, in the coming weeks, I am so excited to share with you some new projects that are coming soon!

If you are needing more ideas, here are a couple of other reading lists:
