Scripture:
“But God remembered Noah and all the wild animals and livestock with him in the boat. He sent a wind to blow across the earth, and the floodwaters began to recede. The underground waters stopped flowing, and the torrential rains from the sky were stopped. So the floodwaters gradually receded from the earth. After 150 days, exactly five months from the time the flood began, the boat came to rest on the mountains of Ararat. Two and a half months later, as the waters continued to go down, other mountain peaks became visible.” Genesis 8:1-5 (NLT)
Perspective:
Noah was stuck on this large boat for days. His family and animals were the only occupants on the boat. Most people recount the story of Noah with it raining for 40 days and 40 nights, which is true. However, they were on the boat for four months until the water started to recede. They were on the boat a total of ten and a half months before they got off of it. In the midst of sea sickness, stench, and uncertainty, God remembered Noah. He saw Noah in the boat and cared too much about him to leave water on the earth forever. Noah was just one person. Why would God care? God cared because He keeps His promises and His Word.
Noah didn’t know how long he would be on that boat. God’s directives are not always easy to follow. God may lead you to a place that you thought was going to bring a blessing only to find that you are still facing challenges. You may find yourself in your own confined circumstance that seems to go on and on. As you face your life today, take heart that God remembers you. He hasn’t forgotten about the promises. He hasn’t overlooked you. He remembers. The waters will recede, and you will walk out of this season onto new ground.
