Scripture:
“When the priests got to the Jordan and their feet touched the water at the edge (the Jordan overflows its banks throughout the harvest), the flow of water stopped… And the people crossed, facing Jericho. And there they stood; those priests carrying the Chest of the Covenant stood firmly planted on dry ground in the middle of the Jordan while all Israel crossed on dry ground.” Joshua 3:16-17
Perspective:
Remember when you first learned to swim. Nothing happened until you started moving your arms and legs. Although it probably looked more like your head sticking out of the water and your arms moving really fast, you were learning to swim. If you had just sat on the edge of the pool, you’d still be sitting there today.
What if the Israelites had just waited on the banks for the water to part? Who knows how long they would have sat there! The water didn’t change until they took a step forward into it. I wonder which brave soul stepped in first. The miracle happened as they moved forward in obedience to God. Maybe you are waiting for God to show up and help you accomplish something in your life. Maybe sitting on the banks of life is the wrong answer. Take a step of faith today and see what God will do. Watch Him part the water for you!
