Scripture:

“By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work.  Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.” Genesis 2:2-3

Perspective:

Have you ever been forced to rest?  You injured your back, broke your leg, or had the flu.  As you were going full speed ahead, you had to take time from your everyday life to rest, restore, and heal.

The God of the universe took time to rest.  He looked at everything that he had created and celebrated it through resting.  Was God tired?  Was He so worn out that He couldn’t create anything else and had to take a long nap?  No.  God has set an example for us to honor Him through resting from our labor.  If God places value on resting, then shouldn’t we?  The world will not fall apart while you rest.  It didn’t fall apart when God rested.  When you take time to rest, you gain perspective and renewed confidence in God’s working in your life.  Resting allows you to refocus on God’s blessings.  It stills our hearts from the busyness of life that surrounds us.  When was the last time you intentionally had a restful day?  By making rest part of your life, you will be more refreshed to continue walking in God’s glorious plan for your life.
