Scripture:

“They spent some time in Jericho. As Jesus was leaving town, trailed by his disciples and a parade of people, a blind beggar by the name of Bartimaeus, son of Timaeus, was sitting alongside the road. When he heard that Jesus the Nazarene was passing by, he began to cry out, ‘Son of David, Jesus! Mercy, have mercy on me!’ Many tried to hush him up, but he yelled all the louder, ‘Son of David! Mercy, have mercy on me!’

Jesus stopped in his tracks. ‘Call him over.’

They called him. ‘It’s your lucky day! Get up! He’s calling you to come!’ Throwing off his coat, he was on his feet at once and came to Jesus.

Jesus said, ‘What can I do for you?’

The blind man said, ‘Rabbi, I want to see.’

On your way,’ said Jesus. ‘Your faith has saved and healed you.’

In that very instant he recovered his sight and followed Jesus down the road.” Mark 10:46-52 (MSG)

Perspective:

Bartimaeus needed one moment that would change his life. On an ordinary day, Jesus passed by and Bartimaeus knew it was his moment. He started making a big scene, trying to get Jesus’ attention. No one around him wanted the same thing for Bartimaeus that he wanted for himself. He had heard the stories of Jesus healing people while he sat on the side of the road. When he finally had an audience with Jesus, he knew exactly want he wanted. In an instant, Bartimaeus could see again. It was his faith that made way for his healing.

Imagine Jesus physically walking by you in the middle of your day and Jesus asking you what he can do for you. What would you say? Would you be able to articulate what you want or need? Bartimaeus’ faith proceeded his request. Allow your faith to proceed your request of what you need from Jesus today. He is present in your life today, and willing and waiting for you to come to him with your need.
